Stems can be used chewing tobacco style, and leaves can be smoked. Leaves and stems also used for making tea. Do not boil for more than 10 minutes to prevent release of harsher compounds. Flowers can be collected and added to the tea. Inhaling tea vapors helps aid nasal congestion. Siad to be calming, strengthening (general health tonic) and good for bladder ailments, as well as aches and pains. Sometimes rubbed on outside of the throat, mixed with seal fat, to help a sore throat.
